Dear Friends,
Today, the 6th of November 2009, we would have celebrated Suresh's 65th birthday. Unfortunately he is no longer with us in person, though it is our firm belief that he will always be there with us in spirit. A spirit - that we know to be indomitable in the face of every adversity, an attitude that has been unwaveringly positive and an approach to life that
encouraged us to live life, in his own words, ...kingsize!
Many of you would have your own individual experiences with Suresh, as he had many facets to himself and participated with full fervour in the lives of his near and dear ones. This blog is a small effort by me and Adi, to keep intact, his circle of life.
You may like to come together, at this space, to share your thoughts, anecdotes and reminiscence of Suresh, or maybe just wish him happy birthday. You are sincerely welcome.
I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to his memorial service which will be held on November 13 2009, 7 PM at the auditorium of Ballygunge Shiksha Sadan, 51 A, Gariahat Road, Ballygunge, Kolkata -700019. We hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Nupur Menon

I like to pay my heartiest tribute to the memories of Brigadier on his 65th Birthday, who in the truest sense, was my friend, philosopher and guide. I only wish, I could walk into the office today and find Brigadier sitting in his chamber, hug him, wish him a 'Happy Birthday' and pass on that bar of chocolate' (which was his big weakness) into his hand!
Happy Birthday Brigadier!!! I cherish each and every moment I have spent with you because none of them were dull. Some with awe, some of fear, some of despair, some with adoration and all of respect and reverence. 7 years a bit too short to know you. Will miss you in every way...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR!!!
Each day I think about you and your word: -
1)Winning is not everything, it is the only thing.
2)In skating over thin ice, our safety lies in our speed.
3)The foolish and dead never change their opinion.
I came across with a truth and realize your loss. I can't explain the emptiness in life. Everybody says that time's a healer, but I am not too sure. Every time I think of you and I miss you more and more.
Happy Birthday Brigadier! Physically you may not be here but i firmly believe that you are here watching and guiding us. The best gift we can give you today is "We Will Never Ever Let You Down " Miss you Brigadier very much
Happy Birthday Suresh Dada.
Every moment of our very brief association is today like a dream. Your advice and suggestions have always been a pathway to newer avenues. Your contribution to motorsports & Bengal Motor Sports Club shall always be remembered. You are missed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIGADIER SIR,
I remember whenever I wished you on this day for the last four years you just smile and thanked me,that smile said it all & expressed your feelings about us.Today I not only miss you,I also cherish all the moments with you.

Hi Suresh,
Happy Birthday! Today I miss you or do I celebrate your life... I think its a bit of both. You have been a great friend and always a greater support. I believe you can never leave us and will be with us forever. Here's a salute and a toast to you, my dear Brigadier and friend. Stay well in God's everlasting care.
Dear Suresh Uncle,
Courage under fire is what I have learnt from you. You have always been a source of unstinting support and guidance. You have cared very deeply for me and Hashi and that is the flame we carry into this next phase of our lives.
Happy Birthday!
Dear Suresh Uncle!
You have touched my life at moments and in ways that will not find justice in words, nor do I have to mention them here. Because I believe you know well, by now, which ones they were and what they have meant to me at every point in time.
I want you to know, that those days in September, I WAS listening very intently and your guiding principle of "values, attitude and approach" has been my rule book since - and yes it works just as you had promised it would!
My gift to you (apart from our customary tight hug!!) is to ensure that I make good the way forward, as guided by you, always.
Lots of love and Happy Birthday my dearest uncle!

Sir, Wish you a very happy birthday today. I will always cherish the moments that I had spent with you. Had learnt a lot from you but am yet to learn and follow may things that you had said.I remember once I had asked "Sir when do I do it ....your answer was ... everything for me is yesterday which meant "" NOW"" Your fevorite word. You will always be in my thought, your teaching which are my inspiration and I know your blessing are with me always. Love You always.........I know YOU are with us.
A very Happy Birthday Sir. Whatever I have learnt in BNKe is because of your "Bloody hell I want it now approach". I still feel you will shout "ya you Bhutanese bugger" or you will comment nice shirt, you got it as a dowry?" when I cross your office. As i think about you after you are gone, I realize what a big influence you have been in my life. You are like a magician who touches people's lives in a way not many can and I sincerely believe that magicians dont die, they simply disappear to re-appear again. Till we meet again sir... It has been an honour!!!!!
Happy Birthday Brigadier.
Sharon (Burnett) Francis.
Happy Birthday Sir.
YOU may not be around but your presence is very deeply felt, especially when we pass your cabin a cold chills runs through as if you were there as always ready to guide us and protect us and help us in every possible way. You will always be love and missed dearly. May you live in Eternal Peace.
Love Always.
Brigadier,
I wish you were still with us. You may not be around, however I shall never forget you until the day I die. ( Happy Birthday ) May your soul rest in peace.
Lots of Love,
Viraf
It's Thursday night and we are looking forward to the weekend. People are slouching in their chairs. All of a sudden somebody stirs in their seat. We know immediately that Sir is taking his walk on the floor. We all sit up and the atmosphere on the floor is charged !This was his presence. He demanded respect ! You had to hear his voice once, and ten people would be standing in front of his room.
I remember Sir walking into the appending room one day and teaching us how to use the excel sheet. Be it anything, Sir was always ready to help. His voice rings in my ear. We were all his "Beta" as he so affectionately called us.It is alomost impossible to imagine BNK without Sir. This place will never be the same.
May his soul rest in peace and may he watch over us.
Happy Birthday Sir !!
Happy Birthday to u sir!!! We would always miss you as our company will never be complete without you....
A very Happy Birthday to you Sir !!
I have been fortunate enough to have got the opportunity to work closely with you. Each moment that I interacted with you has been a learning experience, whether at work or on a personal front You have helped me transform from a carefree college student to a mature man. I miss hearing your voice.. we miss your brilliant 'One liners' which only you could say with a straight face.. we miss your guiding hand.. we miss you Sir !! You have been more than a leader to us... A father figure as one would put it.
Writing this little note almost feels like writing an email to you and expecting a reply in return.. I promise you Sir that all of us will continue to 'Keep the Flag Flying High' .. You have not gone away... just probably decided that your children are now ready to take on the challenges the world has to offer, independently..
Much love and prayers for you,
Dean
Suresh and I go back several years - my first meeting with him at BNKe was like an instant friendship. We knew - we read each other.
My wife and I were very lucky to get a chance to see him during our last visit to India.
We were so close that after we met, on his first birthday, he wrote to me that he considered me so close that he asked for a GOLF TRAINING COURSE to be bought from the US. I was so glad he did. I know, he enjoyed it for several years. He was 4+ years younger to me - but he beat me in this game. Will never forgive him for that.
Rest in peace Suresh - and wait up there.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU SIR !
I still remember the day when you saw us having dinner on the staircase in the fire escape... the next day we saw a table and chairs arranged for us and we knew that it could only be you... Though you were the COO of BNKe yet you took out the time and had dinner with us that day. You really cared for us. We will miss you deeply SIR !
Sir,
It is you who taught me the first lesson of professionalism and work culture. Always encourage my childish designs and rectified with your experienced remarks. It’s a glory to get such a brigadier in front of me and also an honor to be a part of his troop.
Long Live Sir………… Happy Birthday
... words would not compare to the person that you are and what you mean to us. You are a great leader, a father figure that no one could ever replace...
Though it's a hard reality of not having you around to rejoice with us in fun times or guide us through the tough ones...
We will miss you always... Happy Birthday...
Always keep your integrity intact, Never be a YES man and never trust a man who does not drink!! With these three gems of advice you pushed a wet behind the ears, directionless boy into a role of leadership. You taught me everything, integral professional lessons and invaluable life lessons.
I will regard the eight years that I knew you as the defining years of my life and promise to carry your vision and ideals to newer and greater heights.
Happy Birthday Brigadier!! Cheers!!
I knew Brig as a customer who was a pioneer of ITES work in this geography. He and the team he lead had the ability to dream big and live it. The relationship with us however was more than business which was just incidental.
We looked up at him as an epitome of discipline and sincerity - A role model from whom youngsters can derive a learning. Every one of the team members who met with him had a different version of the powerful persona that he exuded.
I would raise a toast to him for his 65th birthday and thank him for those precious moments that he gave us.
Sir.....you deserve our Salute !
I cherish every interaction I ever had with you and ardently regret not having more of them. Your life is a beacon for me – guiding and inspiring me to be the best, never ever give up and live without regret. God Bless You, Sir.
Brigadier, I have been opening this blog for the last few days, many many times and have been wondering what to write... i lack the capability to express all of my thoughts, memories, emotions about you in few words. When I lost both my parents one by one, came out of India with my little daughter.... I used to think you are there in Kolkata. You used to always tell me I was very strong, a "tigress" :-), a true Leo... BUT did i tell you that at many many weak moments of life, battling out life all alone.... I thought of what you would do in a similar situation and have silently derived strength and motivation to fight it out. For me, going back to Kolkata would never be the same without my parents & you... you guys ditched me big time... but will join you up there sooner or later.
A person full of life and energy, Sir, is still with us, in our hearts.
“To Sir with LOVE” has always been my address to him when I
sent notes to him, such an affectionate person and guide who used
to tell me “I am I and you are you. I did not come in this world to
please you, neither you are, but if we happen to meet at some point,
that is wonderful……” His view to life has always been different,
an encouragement to everyone whom he used to like and love……
I was one of them, a privileged person to have worked with him
for some years and know him very closely. The way he used to shrug off
extreme difficulties at work and found solutions, is something to admire.
In leisure, he would tell me his experience in two wars he fought for the
country and combating insurgency in North East. I used to be enthralled on
them and he would tell referring them “ these are no problems.”
He may not be seen around; I may not receive calls from him frequently;
I may not share Toast, Potato Chips and Coffee with him sitting in his cabin
at BNKe, but he will remain in my heart till I see him somewhere else
with a big smile and hug.
Happy Birthday Sir, Brig. Menon, We love you. You are you,
stay lively wherever you are.
Happy Birthday Suresh Uncle. The last memory I have of you is when you hugged me tight while I cried when we lost Chotu last year. And I remember you being so happy for me when I told you I'm leaving for UK, and you said Adi is going as well and we should meet up there! Well I definitely had a good mind to meet you this time around when I'm down, which never happened, and which will remain one of my many regrets in life. I hope you are at peace, and enjoying a good drink up there! You will be greatly missed Uncle.
Happy Birthday Sir,
I may be last person to wish you. I still remember the first day in BNKe when I came for an interview. I remember every moments that I have spent with you. I remember your concern about me becoming fat day by day...
And sir today I promise you that I will definately try to reduce down.
Sir, really miss you very much.
